Mike Involved in Local Schools Outreach Work

As part of our ongoing vision at Liberty CC to reach out into the community, Senior Leader Mike Faun works in partnership with St. Catherine's CE primary school to conduct collective worship on a regular basis.

Mike comments "The collective worship I lead is vastly different to the assemblies I had to endure when I was young. I use media and lively worship songs with actions, which is a great way to connect the kids to God. There's nothing better than seeing two hundred kids and the teachers doing the actions to "Our God is a great big God !" They're worshipping God without realising it !

Most kids see God as boring and not relevant to their lives and so I like to bring fun into the assembly. The kids even call me "Spikey Mike", and they high five me when they see me. Most of them don't even realise I'm a minister !."

  • Liberty Pray for Fabrice Muamba at Reebok Stadium On Tuesday 20th March, a group of twelve people including the pastor visited the Reebok stadium to join a prayer time for Fabrice Muamba. During this time the group were able to send get well messages to the footballer, and also hold a short prayer meeting actually on the terraces of the stadium. Prayers included asking for God's healing touch on Fabrice, for his family and also that God would get the glory through the situation. Mike commented "It was so powerful to be able to hold a prayer meeting out on the terraces. Church is not all about being in a building, its about getting out of our comfort zones and being disciples out in the community".
